MSNBC: Newsweek: Hitchcock’s 'Psycho' turns 50
Don't worry; this is not going to be a post loaded with all kinds of psychobabble. That is way too deep for such a shallow mind as mine. The only thing it would do is make me a psychotic person and I don't need that; I am crazy enough as it is.
I suppose there are lots of psychiatrists and psychologists who already have touched on this subject a long time ago. The movie probably put more emphasis on and drew more attention to all the crossed wires and power outages of and in the brain then before.
Did it change the film industry? I have to question that sincerely; even the older movies hinged upon one or several mentally disturbed characters. It may not have been all that obvious at the time, but even then the detours of the human psyche were well exploited.
The following statement: Newsweek: How 'Psycho' Changed Film and Us, is actually nothing new. My grandfather already used to say: "There are more idiots outside the mental institutions then there are inside."
I guess it has not changed us; the psychosis was always present. We just became more aware of it.
Or.... did we???? Whooooohahahahaaa!
