MNSBC: FCC seeks to expand Internet access
I suppose that is a good thing. The more the Internet is accessible, the greater the likelihood that more people and businesses will take advantage of it. That does bring a couple of concerns with it though, especially when you start your own site; you will have to find a good, reliable web hosting service.
That sounds easier then it really is, especially the 'reliable' part and I am speaking from experience. You find a web host, set up a site, pour your heart and soul in it and when it is finally up and running to your satisfaction..... poof; the web host all of a sudden decides to vanish in to thin air without any notice.
My site was only a personal blog, but imagine what would happen if that had been a business. From one minute to the next the source of income would be cut off. That should never occur and in order to know whether your web hosting provider comes up to your standards and delivers what is promised or not, it would be wise reading up on reviews and recommendations.
Once you have made inquiries, read reviews and found the best webhosting provider, a domain name is in order. This also sounds easier then it is. Sure, you would probably already have a name in mind referring to your business or service and all that is left to do is choose between .net, .com, .org and what ever else might be available. That is the easy part.
Did you know that it is better to establish the same domain name on all of the open options in order to prevent your competitors from taking advantage of all your hard labor? People may remember the name, but they do not always remember the extension and before you know it, your competitor is walking away with what was supposed to be your profit.
As you just read; there is a lot more to it. Inquiring minds want to know, but in this case they need to know!
