CNN: How to land job in phone interview

Geezzz, where are the good ole' days when you sat down face to face for an interview? Sure, you had to go through a little bit of trouble getting there and looking at least some what presentable, but at least you had a chance to make a good first impression.

I can understand a phone interview would do, when you are applying for a job as tele-marketer; then all would depend on the first impression of your voice. In all other cases I don't really see it working out so well.

You may have hired a new receptionist, but didn't know she was in the process of transforming in to a man. How about that new CEO with all those great credentials, but appearance-wise is still looking for his identity: long hair, several face tattoos and so many piercings he could start a jewelry shop?

No, I have nothing against someone's choice of lifestyle and I am not discriminating by any means; to all his own. I am merely trying to point out that some business owners should be prepared when they finally meet their new employee up close and personal.

It could turn out the new worker does not meet the requirements to fit in with the team or the standards you have set for your business. Then what do you do?

I guess since they got hired over the phone, they get fired over the phone?
