Yahoo!: Mother's Day gifts to avoid at all costs

I certainly can imagine that mom may not be extremely pleased and overly excited when she would receive a cookbook on how to loose weight, a box of chocolates while she is on a diet, or a set of tools which are of no use to her.

There is a flipside to every coin though and some of the gifts which are on the 'avoid' list can also be received and perceived in a positive light. It is best left up to the mom in question to make that distinction.

Kitchen gadgets can express the gratitude for all her efforts to put a tasty meal on the table and could be a great help cutting down the time she spends in the kitchen. Giving her perfume does not necessarily mean that she needs to cover up her BO, and ordering a gift from the presentations or ads on TV are no evidence of you being lazy.

On the contrary, when she expressed her desire for these products then all it does is show her how you were paying attention, made a mental note and remembered her taste, likes and dislikes. In other words; they can be thoughtful gifts and show her she matters.

If you have no clue as to what to give her then it may be best to take her on a shopping spree. If that is too much trouble, then you ought to be prepared and take the consequences.

You will end up in the doghouse and you want to avoid that at all costs!
