CBS: Punxsutawney Phil makes Groundhog Day "forecast"

My guess is they let him find out for himself simply because it is tradition, but Phil could easily have stayed in his warm abode. Most of us were already anticipating 6 weeks more of cold weather. If you still had any doubts, take a look at the winter storms that are currently ravishing the Midwest and are forecast to reach the Northeast.

No, we didn't really need for this groundhog to give us an outlook on the future. But hey, everyone has got to make a living and I surely don't want to deprive the critter of his income. It would have been nice though if it would have told us the future was looking a little brighter.

It is not just looking bleak where the weather is concerned; ABC: Obama Sending $4 Trillion Spending Plan to Congress. Who is going to foot the bill? For some reason the song by Tennessee Ernie Ford keeps rolling around in my head. The lyrics are a little different though.
