CNN: iReport.com: Cabinet holds underwater tea party
Just when you think you have heard it all, someone comes up with something they call 'innovating'. It is innovating alright and unfortunately.... this is no joke either. The cabinet of the Maldives is going to hold an underwater tea party on October 24th, for real! That sure blew me out of the water.
It apparently is to create awareness for the environment and since practice makes perfect, this cabinet decided to test the water. It certainly is not my cup of tea and I suspect it will not be theirs either; it is rather difficult to pour tea in a cup while under water.
This publicity stunt is working though; it got my attention. Although I could probably come up with better ideas to gain tea and sympathy for the environment, I would not want to rain on their parade and I certainly do not intend to throw cold water on their party.
I am not sure why this reminds me of the Mad Hatter's tea party from the movie 'Alice in Wonderland', but it does. My only suspicion is that they took the following headline to heart: THE NEW YORK TIMES: Mind: How Nonsense Sharpens the Intellect. As long as they stay out of deep water everything may turn out fine.
Hopefully this is not the last gasp of that cabinet!
