MSNBC: Sebelius: Americans must get swine flu shot

Here we are, making this huge big deal out of protecting the world against coming down with the H1N1 flu. Fabricating a vaccine became top priority, tips on how to avoid catching this flu were widely spread and the long lines of people who are waiting to get vaccinated are growing as I type.

Would it surprise you when I told you that I almost fell out of my chair reading this headline: CNN: Itty bitty piggies are latest pet craze? Does anyone have a clue how this swine flu got introduced?? Maybe the name might give some indication!

I can only imagine, since the vaccine is now available, people are no longer afraid to get the swine flu. To open the floodgates however goes a bit too far; we are already being invaded by a surplus of swines. I guess most people go by the motto: keep your friends close and your swine closer.

I admit; these little 'teacup pigs' are adorable and as cute as a button and I can somehow see how they may have a great influence on the economy; everyone will be bringing home the bacon. Even the real estate market might flourish.

People will be looking for a house with a mudroom!

You cannot get the H1N1 virus from a pig - it's a virus that can only be transmitted between humans. The H1N1 virus was originally referred to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of the genes in the then new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. Further study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs. You can read more about it at the CDC's website:

Anonymous,
Wow, I need to find out more about those genes. I will definitely avoid wearing them!

On a serious note though: thank you so much for all the information on the subject and the link. It is appreciated.
