CBS: Gas Pedal Glitch Prompts Toyota Recall

At least the Toyota owners have a good excuse to get out from under their speeding tickets, whether they had a floor mat or not.

Officer: "You were speeding. I have to write you a ticket."
Owner: "Officer, with all due respect, it was no fault of my own. The gas pedal got stuck under the floor mat!"
Officer: "That's likely to happen when you put the pedal to the metal."
Owner: "No officer, you don't understand. The pedal got stuck. It's a glitch and the car is being recalled."
Officer: "Yeah right. I suspect you catered to your speed demon and your foot got a little heavy."
Owner: "Noooo. What I am telling you is true!"
Officer: "Yup and that's why it developped such terminal velocity; just to get home".
Owner: "It's true!!! Oh gosh, this is ridiculous!"
Officer, continuing to write the ticket: " Yup, you said it...., you said it!"

Hmmm, it may not be so easy after all to get out from under a speeding ticket. It is just sad that this glitch could cost lives and those are not something to play with in spite of the fact that it is called a TOYota!
