Yahoo!: Canada's new coin glows in the dark
I have to admit that is not only quite ingenious, but also very creative. Too bad though that these coins will only be made in a limited edition and probably never will end up in circulation.
The other side of the coin is that this may be for the best. Just imagine having a handful of those quarters in your pocket; it would initially scare the heebie-jeebies out of you when you emptied your pockets in the evening and realized all that time you have been walking around with a bag of bones.
That might be enough to instantly wake you up, deprive you of your sleep, and/or give you some nightmares and if that doesn't do it then the knowledge that you spend this quarter, for which you paid almost thirty Canadian dollars, by accident at a store.
I am very certain our offspring would love to lay their hands on those coins and this design could have actually prodded them to save up, instead of spending. They would have done some fine coin for a change, but you also had to watch your change closely, because it would be extinct before you even knew what happened.
I think I just understood why they chose the image of a dinosaur!
